Countryside
If you are looking for a place to relax, to see a wealth of wildlife in a setting of outstanding natural beauty, for solitude or for a family fun for all ages, a short or weekend break at the Lyndhurst Park Hotel is ideal.
The Lyndhurst Park Hotel is located in the village of Lyndhurst, the capital of the beautiful New Forest, and is an excellent base to explore near or far. The village high street is home to a wealth of tea rooms, pubs and shops which provide souvenirs, high street fashion and local shopping opportunities.
Lyndhurst is also home to the New Forest Museum which provides an excellent guide to the heritage and history of the area. You can walk in the footsteps of Kings and Queens who have visited the area since it was declared a Royal Hunting Ground in 1079 by William the Conqueror. The Church of St Michael and All Angels was built in the 1860's and has excellent examples of windows designed by Morris and Burne-Jones. Lyndhurst is also the home of the ancient Court of Verderers who are guardians of the rights of commoners within the UK and meet every two months at Queens House in the village.
The Forest itself provides spectacular walks with the opportunity for organised Deer Watching tours, and guided walks where you can learn about the history, folklore, flora and fauna all around you. Bicycles are available to hire for weekend or short breaks or longer stays and is an ideal way to get around the miles of traffic free tracks through the national park. The forest is a working habitat too, with strong timber and coppicing industries.
Travelling a little further afield there are a myriad of attractions and places of interest, including Boltons Bench where donkeys and ponies freely graze. Beaulieu Motor Museum, Abbey and Palace are a few miles down the road and provide something for all the family. Or for those looking for more adventure there is Poultons Park in the nearby town of Ower or the New Forest Water Park at North Gorley where you can find watery thrills.
Whatever your interests, short breaks to the New Forest feature something for everybody and the Lyndhurst Park Hotel is centrally located for visiting the area's many exciting attractions.
